Magnolia Learning is a learning center dedicated to providing excellent instruction to school-age children and young adults with special needs. Using a variety of tailored, evidence-based programs delivered with our unique compassionate approach, at Magnolia we believe every child can learn.
Our mission at Magnolia Learning is to provide high quality individualized instruction to children and young adults in a supportive environment delivered by skilled educators with both rigor and compassion.
We primarilly serve learners who are neurodivergent, those with disabilities, and those with learning differences. With our trauma-informed approach, we will make sure your child gets an opportunity to learn.
From reading comprehension to essay writing, and from basic number fluency to algebra, we cover both academic subjects from grades 1-5 and life skills topics typically acquired between ages 5-12 , with the flexibility to adjust to your child's strengths and needs.
The instruction at Magnolia Learning is rooted in a developmental systems model, which considers age to be one of many factors (including environment, culture, and biology) that should guide learning goals. Using a trauma-informed teaching approach, our instructors deliver content that meets high standards but has the freedom to differentiate the curriculum and adapt to each child's needs.
Children learn best when they feel that they belong. At Magnolia Learning, we encourage our learners to think of themselves as valued members of our community. By promoting concepts such as agency, stewardship, and responsibility, and using restorative justice practices to resolve conflicts, we encourage learners to understand their value as an individual who is integral to our community.
At Magnolia Learning, we employ a variety of evidenced-based practices designed for our learners. We also employ a learning system with integrated behavior supports to structure and scaffold skill building, whether those skills are academic, adaptive, or behaviorial.
We have the flexibility and expertise to adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs of our students. This can include multimodal learning supports for students with dyslexia, Gestalt-based language curricula for Autistic students, visual supports for English Language Learners, or integrating AAC devices to assist our nonverbal students.
All of our instructors are trained in techniques designed to build rapport and trust with each student, engage them as partners in their own learning, and guide them to independence and mastery. Our students should leave each session with not only more knowledge and skills but also more self-confidence.
We believe that all children benefit from a calm and controlled sensory environment where supports such as visual aids and sound cues are built in but not overstimulating or distracting.
Magnolia Learning is part of the non-profit Better Minds that values education and dignity for all. Our goal is to make a difference, not a profit.
